Trio: a three-game Tavli match
Play Portes, Plakoto and Fevga in order, with one combined score.
Revised:
One complete cycle
Trio on this site consists of one Portes, one Plakoto and one Fevga game, in that order. All three are played even if someone takes an early lead. A drawn Plakoto still counts as its game and the match continues to Fevga.
- Portes: hit lone opposing checkers and re-enter from the bar.
- Plakoto: pin checkers and protect the mother.
- Fevga: travel in the same direction and follow the prime restrictions.
Each game keeps its own checker rules, and its points count toward the match score. This site uses one cycle. Other tables may agree on a different match length.
The total after Fevga decides the match
A normal win adds 1 point. A mars adds 2, as does a winning mother capture in Plakoto. A drawn game adds none. After the third game, the higher total wins the match. Equal totals mean a drawn match.
Example: White wins Portes for 2 points. Black then wins Plakoto for 1 and Fevga for 1. The final score is 2–2, so the match is drawn. Winning the last game does not break the tie.
If White instead wins Portes for 2 and Plakoto for 1, then loses Fevga for 2, White wins the match 3–2.
Who starts?
For the first game, each player rolls one die. Ties are rerolled. The higher roller starts by rolling two fresh dice; the opening contest is not the first playable roll. In a continuing match, the winner of the previous game starts the next. Here, a drawn game and a new rematch both lead to a fresh opening contest.
Move to the next game together
After a game, both online players choose to continue before the next one starts. The board resets for the next variant and the match score stays. A rematch after the full cycle begins a new cycle with a fresh score.
Resignation, a turn timeout or an expired reconnect period forfeits the whole match. See the playing controls and timers before starting an online match. Once the whole match is finished, its saved review includes the games together.
